Just a few thoughts about human nature. Years ago the saying was “I’m ok, you’re ok”.
We’re not ok. We are selfish, judgmental, coarse, whiney—a lot of “not ok” things. And we need to change that.
“But Jesus loves me just the way I am.”
Yes he does. But that doesn’t mean he loves what we are, and certainly not what we do (which comes from what we are).
The gospel isn’t just about forgiving our sins. It is about cleaning us up and helping us to change. It is about us living a new and different life than the one we had before.
The good news is, “Jesus loves me just the way I am—and he loves me too much to leave me this way”.
